This year the blessing begins Monday, 21 September 2026 and completes Sunday, 8 November 2026, the Medicine Buddha's Birthday. An offering of $490 for each name, registered online — choose the 49-Day Medicine Buddha Lamp on the lamp page; a name registered mid-course joins the daily dedication from the day its offering is received.

The Sutra's Prescription
The Bodhisattva Salvation-Deliverer teaches: worship and make offering to the World-Honored Medicine Buddha through the six periods of day and night; recite this sutra forty-nine times; light forty-nine lamps; set seven lamps before each of seven images of the Tathagata, each lamp the size of a cartwheel, so that for forty-nine days the light is unbroken — so one "may pass beyond peril and hardship, untouched by untimely death and harmful spirits" (Sutra of the Medicine Buddha's Original Vows, trans. Xuanzang, T14, no. 450, p. 407c).

The Lamps and the Dedication
The venerable master chants the Medicine Buddha Sutra daily with the lamps kept burning; each registered name is carried in the daily dedication, for the dispelling of calamity and the lengthening of life, through to completion on the Medicine Buddha's Birthday. When the blessing completes, the seven-day merit lamp stands open the year round for those who would keep a lamp burning.
