The Mountain Gate
Waken Temple
The gate opens before dawn. Walk the central axis — through the mountain gate, across the forecourt, into the Buddha Hall. This is the threshold of a Han-tradition monastery, open to every student of the way.
Enter the Hall
The Mahavira Hall stands on the axis. One seated Buddha, hands joined in the mudra of meditation. The daily liturgy and the ceremonies of the year are held here; the current ceremony and its registration are found in the Temple.
The Dharma Hall
One hundred and twenty-eight teachings in eleven volumes. One idea apiece, a few minutes to read; a bridge at the end of every volume leads to the full paper.
The Scripture Pavilion
At the end of the axis, the pavilion holds the canon at waken.org — translation, exposition, essentials, studies. Five shelves; choose one and enter.
Five Practices
Offering, the lamp, prayer, the mirror of the hundred dharmas, and the ten great vows. Five rooms of practice, each with its own rite.
Temple Affairs
Ceremony registration, tablets, lamps, offerings and receipts — the affairs office stands beside the guest office; one matter, one page, handled with courtesy.
