一者禮敬諸佛

First, to pay homage to all buddhas

From the sutra所有盡法界、虛空界十方三世一切佛剎極微塵數諸佛世尊，我以普賢行願力故，起深信解，如對目前，悉以清淨身、語、意業，常修禮敬。To every buddha, world-honored one, in all the buddha-lands of the ten directions and three times, as many as the dust-motes of those lands throughout the realm of dharma and the realm of space, I — by the power of Samantabhadra's vow — raise deep faith and understanding, as if each stood before me, and with purified body, speech, and mind I constantly practice homage.

The gatha所有十方世界中，三世一切人師子，我以清淨身語意，一切遍禮盡無餘。To all the lions among men of the three times in every world of the ten directions, with pure body, speech, and mind I bow to each and every one, none left out.

Modern note (not scripture)Homage is more than the body's bow: it is the deep faith that every buddha is present before you. In one bow the three karmas of body, speech, and mind are purified, thought after thought.

The refrain that seals each vow虛空界盡、眾生界盡、眾生業盡、眾生煩惱盡，我此願行無有窮盡，念念相續，無有間斷，身、語、意業無有疲厭。Were the realm of space to end, the realm of beings to end, beings' karma to end, beings' afflictions to end — this vow of mine would have no end; thought after thought without break, body, speech, and mind never weary.
