Fire Isn't in the Wood
The Saṃyuktāgama: "Just as two sticks rubbed together produce fire; when separated, fire ceases." Fire isn't in either stick. "Delicious" isn't in the food or your tongue — it's the product of sense faculty, object, and consciousness coming together. Vedanā is a product of conditions, not an inherent property of anything external.
