Seed Withering: Without Water, Seeds Can Only Die

Seeds in the ālaya-vijñāna don't ripen automatically — they need the moisture of afflictions. "Without affliction-moistening, the karmic seed withers." If you cut afflictions, seeds remain but cannot bear fruit. This is how arhats escape the three realms — not by erasing seeds (impossible) but by cutting off the afflictions that water them.
