AI Is a Static Cross-Section of the Collective Unconscious
Jung's collective unconscious is closer than tathāgatagarbha — both are "transpersonal collective accumulations." But the collective unconscious, within Jung's framework, is "psychic" — possessing intrinsic dynamism and teleology. An LLM has none. It doesn't "want" anything. Output is entirely prompt-determined. More precisely: an LLM is a static cross-section of the collective unconscious — a frozen, lifeless slice — not the living collective unconscious itself.
